What to Post on Social Media When You're Out of Ideas

It can be hard to come up with fresh ideas for what to post on social media. Even a seasoned social media manager runs out of creativity from time to time.

Creating content that builds trust and connection is less about being creative and more about consistency. We’ve created a big list of ideas to help you engage your audience, build brand trust, and spark connection. Bookmark this list now so you can refer to the content ideas whenever you need an idea.

Share the People Behind the Brand

People connect with people. One of the fastest ways to build trust is by pulling back the curtain and showing the human side of your brand.

Introduce your team and show the faces behind the work. Highlight a team member, collaborator, or partner. If you’re a solopreneur, reintroduce yourself and share a few fun facts that make you approachable and relatable.

Share a behind-the-scenes moment. Give your audience a peek into what your business actually looks like day to day. Capture the heartbeat behind your brand by sharing a peek into your world. Networking events are the perfect behind-the-scenes moments to share!

Highlight your community involvement. If your business supports causes or participates in local events, don’t forget to share them! These posts communicate your values and position your brand as mission-driven.

Share a client or customer story. You can build instant credibility by sharing the results of your work through a transformation, testimonial, or success story. Toot your own horn!

Feature a customer in action. If someone uses your product or service and shares about it, repost it. You can also ask your community to tag you so you can feature them regularly. This is a great way to build a culture of celebration and belonging.

Try It Out: This week, post an informal behind-the-scenes photo with a caption that tells a short story.

Share Your Knowledge: Teach, Don’t Just Tell

If you're a service provider or expert, your content should help others through education. When you educate your audience, it builds credibility and invites trust.

Create a tip carousel or infographic. Turn a blog post, client insight, or common myth into a bite-sized visual. These posts are highly shareable and position you as an expert.

Answer a frequently asked question. Think about what people always ask you in your emails, DMs, or consultations. Turn those into content that serves everyone.

Host a Q&A session. Use stories or comments to gather questions, then answer them in video or carousel form. It creates dialogue and makes your audience feel heard.

Share a quick explainer video. Use this to simplify a key concept in your business. Videos get more reach and allow you to connect more deeply with your audience.

Teach with a tutorial. Whether it’s how to use your product, plan their week, or streamline a system, tutorials show your audience how to get results with your expertise.

Try It Out: Take one recent client question and turn it into a reel, post, or carousel. Keep it clear and actionable.

Get Interactive: Start Conversations, Not Just Posts

Sometimes, the best engagement comes from the simplest ask. Use these content types to invite your audience to participate and respond.

Post a poll. Use Instagram Stories or LinkedIn to ask a quick question. This could be business-related or just a fun, personality-driven choice to get your audience talking.

Ask for feedback or input. Let your community be part of your business-building process. Ask them to vote on a product name, help you choose a webinar topic, or what you should wear to an upcoming event (this one always gets tons of engagement).

Use a fill-in-the-blank prompt. Prompts like “The best advice I ever got was ______” or “In business, I wish more people talked about ______” spark meaningful responses and create conversation.

Try a “this or that” post. Give two relatable options and ask your audience to choose. This works for products, work habits, preferences, and even just-for-fun questions. Simple interaction. Powerful insight.

Try It Out: Post a “this or that” today in your Stories and use the results to inform future content.

Document Your Brand’s Journey: Tell the Stories That Matter

Your audience doesn’t just want to know what you do. They want to know why you do it, how it started, and where it’s going.

Share how it all started. Talk about the moment you decided to launch your business. Your origin story is powerful, and people really love hearing how you got started!

Celebrate a first. Have you launched a new offer, spoken at your first event, or crossed a milestone? Share it. Let your audience celebrate with you.

Highlight a recent win. These posts build social proof and momentum. Here are a few easy ideas: client success stories, revenue growth, or a personal light bulb moment.

Talk about your why. Reconnect your audience to the purpose behind your work. Share a core value or belief that drives your decisions and business growth.

Give a sneak peek. If something new is coming, share a hint or teaser. It builds anticipation and keeps your community curious.

Try It Out: Take 10 minutes to write your “why” in your own words. Then, turn it into a short post or video to remind your audience what drives your work.

You Don’t Need to Be Brilliant. You Just Need to Be Consistent

If you’re ever feeling stuck about what to post, come back to this truth. Connection beats perfection. Consistency builds trust. Clarity creates growth. Pick three ideas from this list and schedule them this week. The more you show up with heart, purpose, and a willingness to share, the more your audience will lean in.
